Mark McVICAR joins Eiger as Senior Advisor for Trademark and Brand Strategy, bringing more than two decades of high-level experience in intellectual property management and brand protection across the Asia-Pacific region. Based in Taipei, Mark has spent over 20 years advising some of the world’s most recognizable brand owners on the protection and enforcement of trademark rights. His expertise extends to acting as a coordinating agent for global brands, overseeing complex clearance and prosecution projects throughout the region.
Throughout his career, Mark has demonstrated a sophisticated ability to blend legal strategy with operational innovation. He has a proven track record of developing internal systems to improve workflow efficiency, including the implementation of digitization and automation for intellectual property tracking. His professional background also includes significant experience in global partnership management, where he has successfully bridged the gap between internal technical teams and external stakeholders such as government agencies, research institutions, and international investors.
Mark’s deep-rooted expertise in the Taiwan market is complemented by his fluency in Mandarin Chinese. He has supported numerous translation projects for government bodies, including the Fair Trade Commission, the Securities and Futures Commission, and the Ministry of Education, covering topics ranging from constitutional reform to complex legal regulations. This linguistic and cultural fluency allows him to provide Eiger’s clients with nuanced guidance on regional IP matters.
In addition to his advisory work, Mark is a long-time member of the International Trademark Association and the European Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan. He has previously served on the Steering Committee for the European Chamber’s Low Carbon Initiative and authored the Taiwan Trademark License section of the "International Licensing" publication for the Center for International Legal Studies. His diverse experience in media outreach and international business development further strengthens Eiger’s ability to provide comprehensive brand strategy solutions on a global scale.
